TRACTILE is the future of roofing. Through an innovative and unique combination of modern lightweight materials, simple design and solar energy features that provide electricity and hot water, this patented system will revolutionise the roofing industry internationally within a short period of time. Blending design, performance, sustainability, and ease of installation the Tractile product has resulted in market ready products branded: • Tractile™ Interlocking Building System for roofing and wall cladding, able to withstand 300 km/h per hour wind loads and very high impacts; • Tractile Solar Energy Roof Tiles generating electricity and providing hot water.
Installation process: 1) using a spacing tool, the roof battens are fixed to the roof trusses 2) lightweight tiles are inserted into the batons from the side of the roof, and then slid into position, locking together 3) ridge cap tiles are slid into position along the top edge of the roof 4) barge tiles are slid into position along the edge of the roof up to the ridge, creating the complete slide-and-lock interlocking roof This installation process requires 50% less labour, with regard to both skills and time.
The key benefit of the interlocking & composite system is that it makes the roof enormously strong and able to withstand extreme wind conditions such as Hurricanes and Cyclones. The wind load forces get more evenly distributed across the roof with the Tractile Roofing System engineered to withstand windpseeds in excess of 300km/h. Live load rating is over 200kgs per sqm making it safe for people walking on the roof. Tractile was case study in a QLD Government funded Embeded Energy Project conducted by UNSW showing one-fifth to one-eighth the embedded energy companred to concrete tiles and metal sheeting.
Composite materials are extremely lightweight and strong: Tractile is less than 25% the weight of standard concrete roof tiles. This translates to lower transportation costs, zero wastage due to damage in transit (can be 15%+ with normal roof tiles), reduced chance of personal injury (of great importance to roofers and builders), less trusses and batons required, completely hail proof, providing an extra level of home security. The composite material delivers far superior insulating properties, fire retardant properties, non-toxic and is available in a vast choice of colours and profiles. It is electrically insulating and safe for drinking water.
• Less labour, estimated 90% cost saving • Reduced level of skill required, i.e. no specialist trades • Reduced chance of personal injury due to lightweight • Reduced transportation costs due to lightweight • Zero wastage through transit damage • Reduced number of trusses required • Reduced number of batons required • Reduced number of screws or nails required • No mortar required • No sarking required • No hail damage, so no repair or replacement costs • No wind damage so no repair or replacement costs • Peaks, valleys and hips easily installed • Short coursing possible •
• Super-strength can accommodate much heavier loads • Non-brittle so won’t break or shatter • Hail proof • Able to withstand Hurricane and Cyclone conditions • 25% the weight of concrete and terracotta roof tiles • Increased insulation characteristics • Self sealing as interlock when slid onto interlocking batons • No water penetration of roof • Tiles water resistant, preventing frost damage and snow build up on roof • Tiles resistant to moss and mould build up • Can be manufactured in variety of tile dimensions large and small • Can be used on 5 degree pitch roofs (almost flat)
