Description
AirSonea™ puts a valuable tool in managing asthma in the palm of a user’s hand. The device is meant to be pocket-able with an easy to deploy sensor. After installing the included APP to your smartphone (iOS & Android) you can then pair the device via bluetooth and control AirSonea™. By integrating an innovative Acoustic Respiratory Monitoring (ARM)™ and mobile app technology, AirSonea™ enables anyone, anywhere, and at any time to conveniently monitor their breathing and response to medication and to better manage their condition before having an asthma attack.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
Using the legacy PPG sensor, breath data is being pushed immediately via the smart phone (Bluetooth 3.0 and then IP Network) to the cloud and is processed immediately by iSonea PulmoTrack server sitting in the web. The measurement result then is sent back to the smart phone for review. What the PPG sensor measures is the WheezeRate (air flow consistency in the wind pipe) of the user.
Since AirSonea™ is controlled by a smartphone App; it keeps the device itself very simple. The user simply needs to make sure the AirSonea™ is charged (by USB cable) and while the smartphone App is open, slide the sensor out to switch it on and it will automatically pair with the phone. All the user has to do now is follow the simple steps on the App. The App we designed is also meant to be very intuitive with very simple graphics. The whole process is also easy for parents to measure their children if they need assistance.
A key mechanical feature is the sliding deployment of the sensor head. Since the sensor head is a delicate component, it could be slid closed protected within the main body. When sliding the sensor out the head is automatically tilted to a fixed angle which makes it more ergonomic for users to place the sensor on their trachea (throat) or when assisting others.
Human factors were a driving force in the early stages of conceptualization. We needed to make sure that while pocket-able, the device was ergonomic when used on one’s self as well as assisting others. As a result the round and soft edged body fits comfortably in one hand. We placed an LED indicator on both sides of the product so that the lights can be seen on either side. The sliding feature is spring assisted which deploys the sensor head quickly while bringing a wow factor to users.
