Garject is the only garlic tool that presses unpeeled garlic, automatically scrapes itself clean, and then ejects the garlic peel into the bin. It does all of this in one fluid motion, representing a giant leap in the evolution of this ubiquitous tool.

Ordinary garlic presses always require the user to find another tool to scrape the pressed garlic off the bottom of the sieve. Garject's built-in scraper automatically cleans the sieve as the user opens the handles. Such a seamless operation required ingenuity from the designers due to the sticky nature of pressed garlic - it will stick to anything, including the nylon scraper bar. This is solved by the small protrusion on the underside of the product which dislodges the garlic off the scraper and into the meal.
This is one of the key innovations of Garject. The designers observed there was no easy way to remove the peel after pressing, and that users of existing designs had to either use their fingers, or scrape it out with a knife. The peel is first loosened by the cleaning pins on the top handle. This is cleverly integrated into the action of the scraper, meaning the user need give it no thought. Then pressing the big candy shaped "peel eject" button instantly shoots the peel into the bin, giving the user a playful sense of accomplishment and odor-free fingers.
The designers wanted this product to be useful to those with weaker hands. This is achieved without the drawbacks of complex mechanisms, small capacity, or increasing the size of the sieve holes. The innovation is the unique shape of the crushing chamber - it's twice as wide as it is long. This means the garlic is placed closer to the fulcrum, thereby increasing the mechanical advantage. The extra width and height of the chamber allows it to fit multiple cloves at once. Garject is easily powerful enough to crush unpeeled cloves, and the resulting mince is of a fine consistency.
