Description

The Lynx X4 is a rugged, compact, in-vehicle computing platform. The product enables police and emergency services to access central database information while on the road. The product consists of two elements: a screen/keyboard interface mounted in the front of the vehicle, and a separate boot mounted central processor unit.

A display for all occasions. The Lynx X4 display operates in the full gamut of police vehicle environments - day, night, wet, dry, hot, cold

Daylight visible display. Specialized optical filters combined with an ultra-high-brightness display provide best-in-class sunlight visibility, colour saturation and image contrast.

Tough touch screen. The ultra-durable glass touch screen is highly resistant to scratching and other physical damage. Exceptional optical clarity is maintained throughout the product life. The touch screen can be used with fingers or gloves.

Smartcard integration. Dual smartcard slots with backlight illumination to assist insertion in low light environments. Rated to minimum 500,000 mating cycles. Slots read contact-type smartcards, with one slot reading both contact and contactless smartcards.

A processor for all climates. Meeting the challenge of operating in a hot humid environment

At home in a hot wet boot. The Lynx X4 processor comfortably runs in the scorching 65°C boot of a police vehicle, parked in the summer sun, surrounded by soaking wet weather gear.

Active cooling with ingress protection. An IP42-rated enclosure with forced air cooling provides an appropriate level of ingress protection without sacrificing hardware performance. Even when running at full power, the temperature rise inside the Lynx X4 enclosure is only 5°C above ambient.

Advanced power management. Onboard software enables user control of thermal response, vehicle battery power drain, and operating voltage limits.

Structured from the inside out. The Lynx X4 is a highly integrated solution, designed from the inside out

Hardware engineering and industrial design in harmony. The PCB architecture and internal metalwork structures are entwined. Interconnections are minimised, thermal performance is optimised, reliability is maximised.

Multi-layered shock protection. The Lynx X4 processor features a strong, durable extruded aluminium enclosure with an internal anti-vibration suspended chassis. Multi-stage anti-vibration mounts further protect the HDD.

Automotive Standard Power Supply. The automotive-grade power supply is immune to transients and voltage dips due to extended engine start and alternator load dumps.

Foundation for a long term relationship. The Lynx X4 is a dependable everyday tool. Ongoing, long-term customer support is a fundamental part of the product

Designed for maintenance. All high use long-life products require regular preventative maintenance. The Lynx X4 physical architecture is structured to allow easy access to internal components. For example: wear pins in the mounting arm can easily be knocked out and renewed; the top and bottom covers of the processor enclosure are readily removed for access to hardware modules.

Online Product Tracker. An online service database provides the customer with the detailed service history for every product in and out of service. Software upgrades, incident tracking, scheduled maintenance, and product repairs, are all co-ordinated through the database.

Rugged for robust users. Law enforcement officers have a physically demanding job. To work alongside an officer of the law, a product must be robust

Tough skin. The Lynx X4 has an anticipated working life of 5 to 10 years. An all metal chassis with overmoulded elastomer provides a compliant, impact-resistant enclosure. The surfaces surrounding the display and keyboard have been bead blasted and Mil-Spec anodised producing a highly durable and low-reflectance finish.

Rock solid mounting. A precision machined mounting arm enables ultra-sturdy mounting of the terminal into the vehicle cabin. The articulated mounting arm allows for rotation to various operator positions. At each position the arm audibly locks into position.
