Description
ResMed's S9 Series revolutionises the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) by delivering one of the highest quality, best-featured, most-comfortable, user-friendly, most portable, consumer-looking Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP) devices to the market.
The S9 Series introduces new benchmarks in blower size, noise reduction, improved usability and a breakthrough in comfort with fully Automatic Climate Control. These significant innovations combined with consumer aesthetics have improved user experiences and increased compliance to therapy.
Clinical results showed users enjoyed 30 minutes more sleep with the S9 compared to their previous device, creating a measurable difference in their sleep, health, well-being and lifestyle.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
Multiple usability trials resulted in significant enhancements to ease-of-use in core tasks including:
-changing settings
-gaining feedback about sleep
-refilling/viewing the water
-cleaning
-assembly/disassembly.
The simplified user interface design, with large colour display and shallow, easy-to-navigate menu structure, provides faster setup, easy-to-read patient feedback and improved motivation/compliance, through innovations including:
-a patent-pending intelligent dial that automatically maps to the users navigation direction
-a new Sleep Quality menu that displays daily usage, mask fit and AHI (Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index) results at the push of a button.
Patients select their preferred mask temperature, and ClimateLine's integrated temperature sensor prevents 'rain-out' (condensation) and ensures constant temperature and humidity level at the mask.
The SlimLine tube is the market's first 15 mm tubing for the treatment of adult OSA. The SlimLine is notably less obtrusive, more flexible, compact, travel-friendly and easier to attach/detach with its ergonomic cuff design; resulting in easier patient movement in bed, with reduced 'tube drag' and mask leak.
More Quiet: New Easy-Breathe Motor reduces conducted noise by 78% - this is the noise that travels down the tube, disturbing the patient's sleep.
The S9's unique axially-symmetric, dual-impeller, surface-wound motor design greatly reduces cogging, impeller turbulence and hence noise.
The result is a motor that's ultra quiet, more responsive to breathing and noticeably more comfortable/easier to sleep with for patients.
The blower's sensor-less drive system and motor's innovative 'tubular' plastic construction reduces electronics in the air-path, connections and motor costs while increasing reliability over its predecessors.
FOT sends small amplitude air pulses down the tube into the patient's airway to detect the difference between an obstructive apnoea (where the upper airway is blocked) and a central apnoea (where the airway is open and patient has not tried to breathe).
This means pressure is only increased to treat obstructive apnoeas, making the therapy more effective and more comfortable.
