Key Features
and/or Benefits
Our key innovation stems from observing people make their espresso. Research showed that Australians mainly drink their espresso with milk. Intuitive milk “texturing” was therefore important. We expect beautifully presented coffees with silky, perfectly heated milk. At home, consumers often struggle to get the right texture/temperature. So we developed our patent-pending Temperature Sensing Steam Wand. Situating the Sensor in the rear of the wand minimises any influence from hot steam, increasing accuracy, the flush surfaces are easy-clean. The analogue indicator shows progressive temperature gains for easier control. The effective wand diameter remains unchanged and the rounded tip delivers perfect micofoam.
We are always amazed that there is room for innovation in the simplest of objects and operations. Traditional espresso handles have been around for centuries and have long been ignored by designers (aside from aesthetic changes). In observing consumer use, we noticed that during the tamping process many consumers were scratching their expensive kitchen bench tops. So we added our patent-pending silicone tamping pad. We also angled the handle, making the bayonet assembly more ergonomic and the basket sit horizontally on the benchtop. Simple innovation and thought that we apply to every element of the design process.
Feedback on consumer/espresso blogs indicated that espresso machines are noisy, so we set about developing a patent-pending noise dampener. The positive blogger reaction surprised us. “It is astonishingly quiet, not just compared to the 6910, but any machine with a vibe pump” What we considered to be minor “finetune” adjustment really mattered. This detail oriented thought was applied to extra filter storage and the flush handle detail on the watertank. This machine is about the espresso and milk quality though, we finetuned the performance of every part, from the PID thermoblocks to the smooth easyclean drip-tray to deliver Cafe-quality Espresso.
