Description
Brightgreen’s D900 Cube is the world’s first square-beamed LED downlight, designed as an aesthetically satisfying yet energy-efficient alternative to halogens. At 933 lumens and just 16 watts, the D900 Cube actually far exceeds the brightness of a 50watt halogen and tops the industry efficacy chart at up to 62 lumens/watt. Its high CRI (Colour Rendering Index) score of 95 makes colours appear sharper and more vibrant. The unique square beam means fewer lights are required to achieve the same lighting levels and allows architects and lighting designers to create designs that paint rooms with light without dull spots or shadows.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
The D900 Cube’s square beam is extremely efficient compared to circular downlights, creating the same lighting levels with much fewer lights. Its square shape prevents light rays overlapping and prevents dark corners from forming, evenly dispersing light and guiding it to follow the straight edges of a room. This gives architects, specifiers and home builders greater freedom with their lighting designs as they’re no longer restricted by circular beams and their hit-and-miss light dispersion.
As a member of Brightgreen’s D900 range, the 16watt Cube leads the industry efficacy chart with an efficacy of up to 62 lumens/watt. Its powerful lumen count of 933 surpasses that of halogens, which according to the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE), provide just 720 lumens. It is so efficient, that at the end of its product life, a D900 Cube will have saved approximately 22848kWh over 25years when compared to halogens.
A high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of 95 means the D900 Cube’s light quality far surpasses other energy-efficient lighting types, such as compact fluorescents, which have a CRI of just 50. Its high CRI allows the eye to pick up subtle variations in colour meaning that under its light, people and furnishings will look more vibrant and colourful. A warm colour temperature of 3000K makes the D900 Cube adaptable to many situations, residentially or commercially.
The D900 Cube 2.0 has low embodied energy, equivalent to 12.3kg of carbon and can neutralize this after just 252 hours of use in Australia, 0.36% into its designed life. Its 70,000hour lifetime (confirmed by NATA testing) ensures efficiency long into the future. It’s entirely free from toxic or hazardous materials, including mercury and lead, which are found in CFLs and other LEDs. This means it can be disassembled by hand or sold back to us at the end of its product life, ensuring correct recycling and meaning it can be refitted or reformed.
The D900 Cube is user-friendly, with installation made easy by the light body and its need for a circular cutout, rather than square. The spring clip design provides extra security. It’s compatible with all existing dimming systems to ensure easy installation for everyone. The challenge of matching a square beam and fascia with a circular heat sink and cutout created another challenge when it came to gimballing. This was successfully met with 15 degree tilting, further increasing the versatility and efficacy of the D900 Cube, ensuring its adaptability for all rooms and different lighting needs.
