The Encore 10 booster seat for use in a car to restrain a child approximately 4 to approximately 10 years or more using the car’s seat belt and is the first to comply with the new Type F child restraint designation under the mandatory Standard AS/NZS1754. The restraint has a number of unique features that make is travel safe for children and now allows older children to continue to use a booster seat until the car’s seat belt fits the them correctly. It comes in 3 colour options with breathable panels. Britax has 9 Australian patent plus overseas patents.

Encore 10 has width dimensions that are controlled by AS/NZS1754. These require a narrow base in order to fit 3 seats across the back seat of a car and not be restricted but the armrest in many cars. The narrow base also makes it easier for order children to access the seat belt buckle and to buckle then selves in to the seat. The seat is height adjustable for older children and the lateral supports can be adjusted outwards to provide “elbow” room in the seating area. The width looks narrow but children feel at home.
ENCORE 10 is fitted with a large headrest with deep side wings to contain the child’s head in a side crash. In addition to reduces the forces on the head the headrest has an EPS liner and an air cushion (SICT) to greatly reduce the impact forces on the child’s head in a crash. The headrest contains an integral sash belt guide so that the sash belt fits correctly over the child shoulder and across their chest. The adjustable lateral supports assist to contain the torso in a side crash.
ENCORE 10 is fitted with our patented Slideguard clip (lap belt positioning device) sit between the child’s legs and hooks over the lap belt to prevent the child slumping, in turn, preventing the lap belt dangerously sitting on the child abdomen. In a crash nothing will cause the lap belt to pull down on to the child’s hips. Thus there is a risk to abdominal injury in a crash. The tether strap stabilises the seat for cornering and prevents the seat back crushing the occupant against the seat belt in a frontal crash.
ENCORE 10 is fitted with thick padding for longer journeys and a length adjustable seat so that older children can have the full support of their legs near to the knees. Shorter seating surface creates pressure point at the back of the legs leading to a miserable child rather quickly. The back rest hinges to better fit the vehicle. In addition, to create better support and to ensure the occupant is fully restrained, an optional Safe-n-Sound Protecta Child Harness can be used which retains the child’s upper torso and cannot be removed or poorly positioned, unlike seat belts.
ENCORE 10 is designed for high volume production and has minimal components that both support and protect the child. It has smooth surfaces to protect the car’s seating and the occupants next to the booster seat. The clean stying is a first in Australia and booster seat for first for 10 year olds. The ENCORE 10 folds for compact storage and it fitted with a tether strap for stability and to reduce crushing loading on the occupant in a frontal crash. The ENCORE10 folds for easy storage. Of course, ENCORE 10 comes with a cup holder that can be fitted.
