BudiiTM is an NBN-ready ADSL wireless gateway, home smartphone, and tablet all-in-one package designed to make life easier for Australians and simplify technology in the home. Among some of Budii’s™ unique technical features are multiple wireless networks, two different WiFi frequencies (2.4 and 5 GHz), seven super-fast one-gigabit GE Ethernet ports and ZigBee technology. The true brilliance of Budii™ however is the future software SmartLife™ that will be made possible through the device utilising the Zigbee platform. SmartLife™ developed in conjunction with the CSIRO, will allow users to monitor and manage home electricity consumption at appliance level as well as whole of house giving consumers greater visibility on their energy use.
As well as enabling access to the internet, Budii™ packs in many features found in multiple individual devices and simplifies them into one sleek device. The Budii™ home smartphone and tablet use the Android operating system and enable users to select from thousands of online apps. Both are suitable for making calls over the Internet and the tablet also includes a 2MP front facing camera. Budii™ was developed to meet the needs of home users, and includes handy features like parental control, an answering machine, and a backup battery.
The unified charge-rail on top of Budii™showcases a new experience for charging and accessing of smart devices. The simple hook-on action presents the two screens ready for use, and gives clear access to the devices for easy pickup. This patented feature allows the phone and tablet to dock anywhere along its length, removing the need to ‘target’ any specific feature. The hook on the back of the phone and tablet also lifts these devices off the table for easier pick-up and gives the clearance required for higher quality sound from the speakers when on the table.
Among these is ZigBee technology, designed to mesh individual devices in the home, and trigger SMS or email alerts.ZigBee technology allows devices in the home to connect to each other and pass information. Soon to be incorporated into major brands of home appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and heavy duty appliances ZigBee enablesBudii™ to act as a co-ordinator for the mesh network in the home.
