				Description

Christie Parksafe is the world leader in park barbecues and their new CCQ is now the world's most advanced outdoor, commercial cooking appliance. It is designed to provide safe and efficient cooking in both enclosed and open public spaces. It differs from all previous appliances in that it is totally self-contained so the structure beneath it is no longer part of the cooking appliance, which is why it's called a 'cooktop', not just a hotplate. This not only improves safety and convenience for park patrons, it also gives designers enormous flexibility when designing for public open spaces.

				Key Features
and/or Benefits

Christie Parksafe began in 1974 in response to the worldwide problem of camp fires in parks and nature reserves. Every year forests, birds and animals are destroyed by devastating wild fires started by open fires used for cooking. Gathering loose sticks and leaves for a fire also removes the leaf litter that insects live in, breaking a fragile food chain. Each Christie Parksafe CCQ* is fully self-contained with no exposed flames or sparks. There’s no need to gather fuel; no need to dump coals or hot embers. Cleaning the CCQ is quick and simple, so natural habitats remain protected.

Controls at the front and above the benchtop are easier to see and use - and out of the reach of children. Audible alerts accompany any change in operating mode. A 6 second safety delay stops accidental starts. One multifunction button and one indicator light CCQ is simpler and safer to operate. A light flashes in ‘pre-heat’ mode while the CCQ self-sterilises. A ‘STOP’ function saves energy. The raised hob stops heat being transferred to the bench while perforations allow heat to escape keeping the bench cool. A 100mm protection zone stops children reaching anything hot.

Outdoor cooking systems are exposed to the elements, a stream of visitors and even local fauna, so cleanliness is crucial. CCQ hotplates are pressed from a single sheet of high grade, non-porous stainless steel with no welds, creases or deep corners to trap food, germs or bacteria. CCQ also has a patented program to kill harmful bacteria and germs by quickly reaching a sterilising temperature and maintaining it through-out the pre-heat process. This self-sterilisation and CCQ’s patented active control system with solid state temperature sensing componentry maintains the correct cooking temperature throughout the entire cooking cycle.

CCQ’s Bonded Dual-Layer Technology spreads heat more evenly across all corners of the hotplate and side walls so there are no cool spots. CCQ is the only park BBQ to have automatic temperature control on both Gas and Electric models. The 3.6kW High Efficiency Electric CCQ is the benchmark for efficiency and cooking performance while gas is the future for park BBQs. Gas-CCQ has an all-stainless gas burner completely isolated for safety. It’s the only gas BBQ approved for both indoor and outdoor use and tested and certified to Commercial Catering Appliance Standard.

Public BBQs have always been large and cumbersome with control systems housed in the supporting structure. With new installations, that limited the creativity of designers and landscape architects. With old worn hotplates, it meant replacing or altering the whole structure. Now CCQ is small and fully self-contained cooking unit. It has a large range of Christie structures as option, but it can also be dropped into a variety of bespoke structure designs, or into existing structures to replace a worn or damaged hotplate. With both gas and electric models the options are now only limited by the designer’s imagination.
