Description
The DAF XF105 has been designed as the ultimate driver's truck - a thoroughbred driving machine designed for long haul driving. The vehicle offers world class safety features and a spacious, comfortable cab, that is well-equipped and beautifully finished. Designed by engineers from behind the wheel, instead of behind a desk, and tested in rugged Australian conditions, the DAF flagship brings an exceptional European heritage to Australian heavy-duty truck operators. In recognition of its excellence, the XF105 was awarded "Truck of the Show" at the 2012 Australian International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
The exterior of the XF105 features sleek good looks and fluent aerodynamics. The interior is designed around the comfort of the driver and includes a fully adjustable driver's seat, logically grouped controls within easy reach, a modern instrument panel and a steering wheel that sits comfortably in the driver's hands. This means less distraction and less fatigue, making driving safer, more comfortable and less stressful. The cab has all the conveniences of home including a refrigerator, spring mattress beds and clever storage spaces. The intelligent use of space and high-quality materials creates a great place to drive, live and sleep.
The XF105 has been designed to ensure low running costs and minimise time off the road. The engine design results in longer service intervals starting from 90,000 kilometres. Moreover, with a centrifugal filter and the use of synthetic oil, intervals of up to 150,000 kilometres can be achieved, resulting in lower operating costs and maximum vehicle availability. In addition, the use of high-quality materials such as Compact Graphite Iron for the cylinder block and cylinder head further improve reliability. Maintenance is simpler, faster and therefore less expensive and there are fewer parts that wear and need periodic replacement.
DAF applies state-of-the-art technology to maintain the highest standards in development and manufacturing. DAF trucks are built in world-class facilities in Europe, using high-quality materials and efficient processes. DAF complies with ISO/TS 16949 quality management systems and has implented the PACCAR Production System to achieve world-class manufacturing standards: everything right first time, with no unnecessary loss of energy or materials and with the highest conceivable quality. In addition, the DAF XF105 completed 12 months and over 2 million kilometres of testing in Australia to ensure it met the rigorous demands of the Australian transport industry.
The XF105 offers a wide range of safety features designed to make it one of the safest vehicles on the road. The accurate steering characteristics mean excellent road holding for safe, comfortable driving. The electronically controlled braking system - incorporating Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Anti-Slip Control, brake assist, drag torque control and hill-start aid - optimises braking and safety. Other optional features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and a Lane Departure Warning System all designed to make driving easier, especially in long haul driving situations. The DAF Camera System also assists drivers to manoeuvre safely in difficult conditions.
The 12.9 litre PACCAR MX engine, manufactured by DAF, provides the optimal balance of power and fuel economy. The driveline is carefully balanced to optimise performance and to make the most of the engine's low fuel consumption. The engine idle shutdown system automatically stops the engine after it has been idling for five minutes while the vehicle is stationary, thus preventing waste of fuel. The driver can activitely contribute to fuel effienciency by responding to fuel consumption data on the instrument panel display. Customer results indicate that these technologies combine to achieve excellent fuel savings.
