Five years ago, Dyson bid farewell to the blade by inventing the world’s first bladeless fan, the Dyson Air Multiplier™. Never satisfied, Dyson engineers have spent the past three years improving their original design. They went to painstaking lengths to acoustically engineer a fan that is 75% quieter than its predecessor, while maintaining the same powerful airflow.

High speed air creates noise, which can be difficult to disguise. Dyson Cool is engineered to deliver powerful, smooth air, without the nuisance of noise. A specialist team of Dyson acoustic engineers designed a Helmholtz cavity to capture sound waves travelling through the fan. The cavity alone eliminates tones of up to 1,000Hz; similar to the tone produced by a mosquito’s beating wing.
					The new Dyson Cool™ fan is the result of a £40 million pound investment in research and development. Air is drawn in by an energy-efficient, brushless motor. Airflow is then accelerated through an annular aperture, passing over an air foil-shaped ramp, which draws in and channels its direction. This creates and projects powerful, smooth, high velocity airflow.
