				Description

The Emergence AS4 speaker system is pioneering audio technology which has set a completely new benchmark in consumer audio reproduction. Producing three-dimensional sound by generating an acoustic hologram, the performance of the Emergence is superb by audiophile standards. It delivers the presence of the performer to the listener by creating a distortion free, three dimensional sound experience that is not affected or coloured by the acoustics of the listening room. Form follows science with this impressive new technology demanding an iconic design to match the mathematical precision of the acoustically balanced enclosure and the passive fractal dispersive lens.

and/or Benefits

Sound has ‘shape’ and recordings don't reproduce the live experience of the original performer because they have lost their spatial information. The original recording did capture it – but conventional sound systems and speakers mask the information with the noise they add. Acoustic3D software and the unique speaker design restores that spatial information. The Emergence produces three-dimensional sound that not only has correct frequency and amplitude but is also correct in phase (which is what your mind uses to locate the source of sound). So when you play your music, it’s just like being in the room with the performer.

The Emergence is the world’s first range of audio speakers that produce three-dimensional sound by generating acoustic holograms. A key feature is the unique passive fractal dispersive lens which sits above a full range, high power, low noise, neodymium driver. The result is astonishingly clean lower and upper mids that are embellished by a 3D hologram, active in the frequency range from 2,000Hz-20,000Hz. The central amplifier unit contains a 100mm ‘balanced drive’ bass driver which maintains an extended linear magnetic field inside the speaker so that acoustic harmonic distortion is practically eliminated, even as the volume is turned up.

The unique shape sets the Emergence apart in the competitive landscape of audio products. Its form complements the mathematical precision, showing off the new technology. The Emergence shape was carefully designed to deliver excellent reproduction of original recorded sound. The highly polished moulded shells with their automotive inspired surface finish and the anodised aluminium sound reflector are precisely toleranced and exactly positioned to enhance the performance of the speakers. The speakers are designed to be wall mounted or perched on a bookshelf using a small footprint of three cast aluminium feet that uncouple the speaker from the placement surface.

The units have been designed for mass production with air-tight ultrasonic welding for acoustic performance trapping an acoustic baffle with a cabling harness into the assembly in one operation. Special machinery was designed for the large surface area ultrasonic welding to ensure consistent acoustic performance. The internal features of the enclosure have been carefully controlled to avoid any blemishes on the polished exterior surface. The design of the reflector component was driven by a desire to develop the most cost effective method to create an acoustic hologram in a single unit, and make it available to the audio consumer.

Twenty-one years ago, acoustician and inventor Joe Hayes made a scientific breakthrough in audio amplification and discovered how to generate an audio hologram. The amazing sound quality of the Acoustic3D speaker systems has its genesis in the attempt to understand why Stradivarius violins sound so good. Joe was also the inventor of the Solphonique line of speakers and manufactured the PASSAC line of audio products, used by many musicians around the world. For 20 years he developed core technology for the audio hologram. With Acoustic3D and Infinity Design he has now been able to commercialise audio products using this technology.
