				Description

Prior to the design of the Fire Attack Packs, which combine to form the 'QuickLay System', there were no standard fire fighting procedures for deploying fire hose rapidly, efficiently and reliably. One of the main challenges was charging water through a hose without it tangling. A fire fighter typically bowls out the hose, which takes valuable time when time is absolutely of the essence. The Fire Attack Packs have been designed to hold hose in such a manner that a fire fighter no longer has to bowl hose - getting water on the fire as quickly as the ground can be covered.

				Key Features
and/or Benefits

Incidents involving fire by nature have many variables. What is certain is that every incident will present a unique set of complications and until now, fire hose deployment itself was one of them. The Fire Attack Packs combine to provide a flexible, easy to use and effortless solution for the two requirements common to every incident: 1. The need to stretch a hose over a distance between the water supply and the fire barrier 2. The need to deploy a hose in such a fashion that it can be advanced into the combusting environment without kinking our becoming caught up.

Often team members aboard cruise and cargo ships, underground in mines and in buildings of significance convert from "full time employees" to "one time fire fighters". Essentially this is great! They are instantly on scene, have local knowledge and usually have access to passes/keys. However these teams have various skill levels and language barriers. The Fire Attack Packs are deliberately coloured to clearly identify their role in the system and they have been designed to be simple and intuitive enough for "one time fire fighters" to use with minimal discussion while under pressure in reduced visibility.

The Fire Attack Packs combine to deploy 60m/200ft of hose in less than 60 seconds. In addition to this, all equipment required to get to work is included and pre-connected. This allows the users to get to work instantly rather than grab bits and pieces and unroll and connect it all in addition to contending with a large set of as yet unknown variables.

The speed at which the water hits the fire is the single variable that matters most and while fire hose can be successfully deployed anywhere by anyone - it currently needs to be done slowly and methodically. The Fire Attack Packs provide a reliable and flexible solution that can be deployed as quickly as the user can cover the distance.

Fire fighting is a rigorous activity. However more demanding can be the task of transporting the gear to the fire's location. On top of the personal protective equipment (jacket and pants) is a breathing apparatus (BA), positioned down the centre of the spine. The carrying mechanism of the Fire Attack Packs is designed to operate in conjunction with and in a similar fashion to the BA, allowing the long and thin Fire Attack Packs to align in tight; next to the BA and therefore as close to the users centre of gravity as possible.
