Description
The RØDE Stereo VideoMic Pro is a broadcast-quality, stereo microphone designed for the emerging DSLR camera market.
High-performance digital SLR cameras such as the Canon 5DMkII are revolutionising videography for both professional and 'prosumer' users. These cameras offer full-frame, high definition video with the desirable interchangeable lens system of an SLR camera, making them suitable for a wide range of film makers.

The Stereo VideoMic Pro provides a high quality audio option for videographers. Its performance, feature set, and ease of use make it ideal for recording music, and the atmospheric ambience essential in building an immersive audio scene.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
The microphone capsules are housed in a distinctive cage-like structure that provides mechanical protection and isolates 'dead air' around the capsules, to enhance wind protection whilst providing maximum transparency for the stereo field.
An adjustable gain setting with a 20dB level boost for DSLR cameras and a -10dB pad for use in loud environments such as live concerts, ensures a suitable signal level in a range of recording conditions.
The integral shockmount and cable specification serve to minimise handling and mechanical noise from the camera.
Based around a pair of high sensitivity half-inch cardioid condenser capsules that have been acoustically matched and arranged in a coincident XY stereo pair, the microphone provides a wide stereo image with natural depth, faithfully reproducing the aural environment.
A switchable high-pass filter allows the user to cut the low frequency response, to remove unwanted rumbling sounds such as traffic or air conditioning from their recording.
The compact size and low weight (only 115g without battery) make the rig easier to handle over extended periods.
The configuration keeps the microphone clear of the camera viewfinder and controls, while all user controls are grouped on the (operator) visible face.
It features a multi-purpose LED, to indicate both power status and provide a low battery warning.
The battery compartment has been designed to facilitate quick and easy replacement while mounted on camera.
The positioning of the acoustic transducers relative to the camera and microphone bodies is of great importance. This ensures a clean directional pickup of sound (polar response) as well as ensuring optimum frequency response.
There is minimal forward extension from the camera shoe, ensuring the microphone stays out of field of view, even with wide-angle lenses.
The treatment of external surfaces and selection of colour, material and finish complement the latest generation of DSLR cameras and camcorders.
This world-class site, with facilities including in-house metrology, fully-automated Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) PCB assembly line, clean rooms and acoustic testing, is a key ingredient in RØDE's success, helping the company generate competitively-priced, category-leading product, over 90% of which is destined for export markets.
RØDE products are designed to last. The company is confident of the quality of its products, and guarantees the Stereo VideoMic Pro with a 10 year warranty.
