and/or Benefits

The Astral ventilator offers patients the freedom to go beyond the confines of the home or healthcare environment, while delivering real peace of mind to users, clinicians and carers. Weighing just 3.2kg with an 8-hour internal battery, it offers an impressive run-time to weight ratio. This can be extended to 24 hours under typical conditions with its optional external batteries. Approved for air travel, it can be run and charged from a 12V socket using its DC-power adapter. A compact, rugged & light-weight design that can easily be carried or mounted onto a wheelchair with its purpose-built mobility bag.

The Astral ventilator has been designed to make delivering effective therapy simpler, while providing the tools for easy monitoring. With the Astral ventilator, patients can keep the same ventilator as their condition progresses because it offers the flexibility to change therapy modes and circuit configurations. The Astral ventilator is compatible with a range of invasive and non-invasive patient interfaces and offers a variety of volume and pressure therapy modes for adult and paediatric patients. It supports both leak and valve ventilation, and both single and double limb circuits, with the use of interchangeable circuit adapters.

With an intuitive interface, easy set-up and simple servicing, the Astral ventilator has been designed to make ventilation support straightforward and efficient, supporting the patient to move from hospital to home. Inventory management is simplified by offering one ventilator that’s designed to do much more – treating most respiratory conditions in paediatric and adult patients. The simple vertical assembly and disassembly method and modular Pneumatic System enable the ventilator’s entire air path to be easily replaced reducing the cost of ownership. All this equates to significant time savings during training, service and patient care.

The Astral ventilator’s logical tab-menu structure allows most frequent menus to be accessed in a single touch and offers quick navigation throughout the system. The built-in ‘Setup Assistant’ provides step-by-step guidance for introducing new therapy configurations, and illustrations support the ‘Learn Circuit’ feature ensuring easy and correct set-up. Four customisable programs allow clinicians to pre-configure therapies allowing quick settings changes for activities such as speech and physiotherapy. The large, easy-to-read touch-screen displays information clearly, from historical data for quick analysis to real-time pressure and flow waveforms. The touch-screen technology was selected so that it can be operated with gloved hands.

Correct configuration of parameters and alarms is paramount to safety and effective therapy. The Astral ventilator incorporates design features to ensure all information is available to the Clinician to make informed decisions for patient wellbeing. Assistive messages alert the user to conflicts during settings adjustment, a large illuminating alarm-bar and mute-key draw attention to the device when alarms are activated, and help guidance is incorporated into an active alarms list to assist fast response. With integrated oxygen monitoring and underpinned by in-house developed Class C Medical Device Software, the Astral ventilator provides effective safety features for peace of mind.
