SodaStream

Description
Source is the latest machine in SodaStream’s for making sparkling water and soda. Source utilizes a C02 gas cylinder to carbonate water at one of three levels, indicated by a simple LED pattern of water droplets on the face of the machine. Users press down on the large block on the face of the machine to trigger the carbonation process, creating a fun new interaction for their favorite drinks at home. The benefit to the environment is massive, in using Source, a typical family can prevent hundreds of bottles a year from entering the waste stream.
Key Features
and/or Benefits
To bring SodaStream into the modern kitchen, we created a new language of shapes and finishes with Source, the newest machine from the company. Source is a sleek, monolithic form that brings premium experience and superb sustainability into your kitchen.
Translating the sustainable mission of turning raw tap water into refined sparkling water, the design language for Source is similar: raw primary shapes on the outside contrast with very elegant organic surfaces within. High gloss surfaces, brushed aluminum, and polished stainless steel details all create a refined feel.
The water droplet texture is used to highlight the most important area, where you place the bottle of water, and the curvature of the rear cover suggests the shape of the C02 bottle it hides. Even the shape of the bottle was updated to something elegant, more at home on the table during a dinner party.
The Source is designed to the last detail, considering all angles. The design of Source was a process of elimination. Starting with the larger volume, we chiseled off the functional areas and sculpted transitions. As SOURCE is non-electric, with no cords (the LEDs operate with a watch battery that will allow many years of use without replacement), the back is as beautiful as the front. It can be placed in full view, under a cabinet or out on a bar, without feeling like it should be hidden away after use.
