Description

Abrasive cutting in an entirely new dimension: the latest product presentation is further affirmation of STIHL's position as a technology pacemaker and world market leader for cut-off machines. The STIHL TS 500i is the world's first handheld power tool to be marketed with electronically controlled fuel injection. The advantages of revolutionary STIHL fuel injection are that it uses electronic characteristic mapping to achieve previously unattained ease of starting, optimum engine power with excellent running and acceleration, economical fuel consumption and low emission values. Also, the engine design without a carburettor results in a very compact size and low machine weight.

				Key Features
and/or Benefits

With the STIHL fuel injection system the German manufacturer has revolutionised two-stroke engineering. The new STIHL TS 500i (3.9 kW / 10.2 kg) is not only the world's first cut-off machine with electronically controlled fuel injection, but also the first handheld power tool ever to be equipped with this advanced engine technology. Another important point is that because it does not need a carburetor, this highly innovative and powerful machine is also characterised by compact size and an excellent power-to-weight ratio.

With or without a trolley (available as an accessory), the innovative and rugged TS 500i is ideal for use in building and civil engineering, road construction, gardening and landscaping and for fire brigade and emergency services use. With its 350 mm cutting wheel it is extremely efficient at cutting through concrete, stone, steel, asphalt or ductile cast iron.

The core of the world-beating STIHL fuel injection system is electronic characteristic mapping. This delivers optimum engine power right from the start, in any operating state, i.e. while idling as well as under part load and full load. Constant adaptation to prevailing ambient conditions such as external temperature, altitude and fuel grade ensures that the fuel mix, injection volume and injection and ignition timing are continually determined and adjusted with extreme precision and consistent results. Furthermore, the technology does away with the need for a carburetor and thus for manual adjustments.

The STIHL fuel injection system makes starting the engine easy and straightforward. As cold/hot starting is detected automatically, the STIHL TS 500i has only one starting position. The engine starts correspondingly quickly and, thanks to STIHL ElastoStart, without multiple pulls and with good fuel economy. After only a few starting strokes the user can accelerate right away and get to work. By reducing the number of components, such as the carburetor, this revolutionary engine concept permits a compact design and comparatively low weight. The TS 500i thus has perceptibly higher power.
