The V30 Touchlock can be used in standalone mode, or networked to other PeopleKey hardware via our management software. It can interface via a range of communications options including Ethernet, wiegand, serial and USB. The addition of a 'comms module' on the rear of the device enables additional features including PoE, internal USB dongle and screw terminal connections.

The size of the V30 Touchlock is remarkable considering the amount of features integrated as well as under comparison with existing products on the market. The size reduction was achieved through innovations in circuit design, component selection and industrial design. Of particular note is the inclusion of an optical technology fingerprint sensor, Ethernet functionality and IP65 ingress rating in such a compact form factor. The compact nature of the design is of great benefit as it allows the device to be mounted descretly and in a range of locations including door mullions.

The enclosure design and component selection have been made to achieve a dust and water ingress rating of IP65. This is not common among existing biometric devices on the market and certainly not common in such a compact device. This rating allows the device to be mounted both indoors and outdoors. The sensor utilised is an optical technology sensor which incorporates a very tough scratch resistant sensor surface. The card reader technology is contactless which has no moving parts or exposed technology to the exterior of the product.

The enclosure design includes a snap on cover to allow for simplified decor matching with different location colour schemes. The ellyptical snap on cover provides a visual device that attracts the user to the fingerprint scanning location and is used on other PeopleKey products to provide a family identity / appearance. The standard mounting of the product is wall mounted for physical applications, however it may also be desk mounted for logical PC based applications. In this form it is included with a rubber foot for stability.
